Overflow Crowd at Zoning Meeting – New Date Chosen
On Tuesday August 18, the Planning Board held a rare August meeting to present a new zoning proposal for the A-1 and A-2 zones. The meeting was short lived however, as the meeting room in town hall was filled to the point of overflowing. When it became clear that members of the public left standing in the hallway would not be able to hear or see the presentation, Chairman Ken Hyman entertained a motion from the board to postpone the presentation and the meeting was adjourned.
A flyer announcing the August meeting had been sent to all taxpayers, included with the tax bills and clearly the flyer had piqued the attention of the residents present for the meeting. In searching for options to accommodate all present, it was quickly evident that the only viable option was to re-schedule. Chairman Hyman said that “No one should be deprived of sharing the energy” that was present at the meeting and closed by saying that the meeting would be rescheduled as soon as possible and that announcement of the new time and place would be posted on the township’s official website: www.delawaretwpnj.org. He said that the Board will do its best to arrange a new date and location as quickly as possible, and he hoped that everyone can return that night.
Planning Board Secretary Judy Allen has confirmed that the new time has now been set. The Planning Board’s special meeting will now be held on Tuesday, September 8 at 7:30 PM in the Performing Arts Center at Delaware Township School.
